Alice Wilde
"Telling me not to do something is like telling me not to breathe."
—Alice
—Alice
Alice Wilde (neé Cunningham) was a fierce woman full of passion for life. She was married to Ward Wilde and was the mother of Elisabeth Wilde. Though her upbringing was strict and religious, she outgrew her stifling childhood and raised her own child with a great importance placed on getting dirty and having fun. She was never afraid to stare down death, and did so with a righteous fury that carried her until her untimely end at the age of 45 by Solomon Willoughby the III.
Appearance
Alice stood relatively short at only 5'4" (162 cm), but she more than made up for her short stature with a natural athleticism and strength training, giving her a wiry, athletic appearance. Her hair was blonde (though she occasionally dyed it colors like brown and black) and her eyes were green-blue. She had freckles across most of her body, including her face.Personality
Alice was widely regarded as a hothead, with a sharp temper and a quick wit. Her passionate attitude towards life was visible in everything she did, from working in her garden to raising her daughter. Alice never wanted to leave anything unfulfilled, and she'd rather have tried something and failed than not tried at all.Skills & Abilities
Alice's favored weapon was her sniper rifle. She was an excellent sharpshooter, and Pale Rider utilized her abilities heavily when working in active combat zones. When her rifle failed, or when she was forced into close quarters, she could hold her own with a knife.Friends & Alliances
- Macey Khan (deceased) - A fellow member of Pale Rider, Macey Khan was hard to befriend, but Alice managed it. Her and the hand-to-hand combat specialist had a mutual distaste for authority, leading to them becoming good friends in the time that they worked together. Alice saw Macey as the sister she never had.
- Anthony Dalston (deceased) - Alice met Anthony Dalston through Ward, and quickly warmed up to the easygoing man. Anthony was a constant in the Wilde household, stopping by to take care of Elisabeth when Ward or Alice couldn't, to the point where he was fondly referred to as Uncle Tony by the entire family. Alice always joked that if she hadn't married Ward, she would have married Anthony (and Ward wholeheartedly agreed).
- Mari Clark (alive) - One of Alice's first friends, Mari Clark was also the person who finally killed the last vestiges of Alice's upbringing. They carried an on-again, off-again relationship for several years until Alice joined Pale Rider. At that point, she and Mari lost contact, but Mari still thinks of Alice fondly and wonders what happened to her.
Enemies & Rivals
- Willoughby Solomon the III (status unknown) - Alice knew Solomon Willoughby as one of Ward's associates, until he turned on the family and abducted Elisabeth and Alice. For this, he earned nothing less than death in Alice's eyes.
- Jaxon Osborne (status unknown) - A well-known gangster of Alice's childhood, he frequently caught her in his territory in Swansea and had her roughed up to teach her a lesson. These beatings were formative for Alice, and also gave her the first taste of combat.
History
Alice grew up in a very conservative religious household, but broke free of her stifling upbringing and became a loud and proud champion of personal freedom until her death at the hands of Solomon Willoughby the III.Early Life
Alice was born at home on August 21st, 1968, to Agnes and Martin Cunningham, in a small town in Wales. She had a brother named Thomas, who was her elder by three years. Her parents were Orthodox Christian and were very strict with their young daughter. She was homeschooled and kept very isolated, which manifested as a rebellious streak in her late childhood and early teens that led to her running away several times and getting into fights on the street in nearby Swansea, especially with gangster Jaxon Osborne and his group. When she was 18, she left home for good and joined a private security company.
Later Life and Marriage
After working for the private security company for seven years, Alice started training with an American paramilitary force stationed in London, where she met Ward. Two years after their meeting, they split off from the force and created their own team: Pale Rider. Ward and Alice were co-leaders, and they both had a hand in its creation. Three years passed before she and Ward got married. Four years after that, and Elisabeth was born when Alice was 34 and Ward was 33. She continued her mercenary work with Ward, telling her daughter she was a private military contractor. Her life with Ward, Elisabeth, and their team was a happy one until 2014, when Elisabeth and Alice were abducted.
Death
Mere weeks after Elisabeth and Alice were taken, Alice couldn't bear to see her daughter harmed one more time, and vowed to escape with her daughter from the ship they were trapped on. Her attempt failed, and, sensing that Alice would only cause more trouble, Willoughby Solomon the III decided to get rid of her once and for all. He forced Elisabeth to watch as he shot Alice execution-style on the deck of the ship and then threw her overboard. Alice's body was never recovered.
